Muzzle Device

So I've been looking around, and muzzle devices have caught my eye as a future upgrade on my AR.

The main things I want are:
-Give better recoil reduction than an A2 flash hider
-Direct muzzle blast away from the shooter
-If muzzle blast isn't directed away, at least be comparable to an A2
-Minimizes muzzle flash, similar to an A2

The second criteria eliminates a lot of muzzle brakes, and the last one makes things tricky for a lot of comps.

I'm interested in a BCM Mod 1, but am curious as to how much louder it is compared to an A2, and how much more muzzle blast can be felt by the shooter and those around it.

I also saw the Levang comp, but am a little incredulous as to how well it actually works in providing controllability.

The best thing that comes to mind that I think that you are looking for is the PWS FSC. It is the best all around muzzle device that I've used (I have; Battle Comp, Dynacomp, Brakeout, Vortex, VG6 Epsilon, LSMB, Surefire MB556K, Rainier XTC).

I agree with this recommendation. I run the FSC556 on most of my guns that are 16".

While I have not actually tried it, I have been in the market to upgrade my A2 FH as well and all my research and online comparisons have pointed me to the PWS FSC as well. Definitely what I'll be getting.

If flash suppression is not a concern, the VG6 Epsilon is another good option.

I have not tried the pws but I do have the bcm comp on one of my rifles. From my understanding there isn't a device that does an outstanding job of all the things you listed, but the bcm is decent in my opinion.

IMO, you either go with an excellent flash hider or a muzzle brake. The only device that I've come across that is an excellent brake and has somewhat reduced muzzle flash is the PWS FSC556.

If your muzzle device takes you off axis but gives you flash reduction, what is the point of even going with a brake?

I haven't shot my surefire mb556k on a crowded firing line yet but I'm sure the butthurt will be a lot worse with a dedicated brake.
