Well he tried buying guns illegally so I'm going to have to say he's not really "on our side".

I posted this years ago. Kessler was invited to speak at a facility in Bucks County at a gun rights forum which I attended. When he began speaking, he was preaching to the choir, but quickly shifted into some pretty ridiculous remarks for a chief of police. He said he did not trust cops (at that, a lot here would feel he is on their side), but then he said he would not arrest a drunk driver. The at-the-time Bucks County district attorney was there, leaning against the wall near the entrance. He turned and walked out. Kessler exhibits abnormal behavior and abnormal mental processes, to say the least.

Ex-Gilberton police chief guilty of lying on pistol-purchase application

Mark Kessler, the former police chief of Gilberton, Schuylkill County, was found guilty Thursday of providing false information in an application to buy a firearm.

Kessler on May 5, 2016, answered “no” to a question that asked if he was under indictment for any crime that could bring a prison sentence of more than a year.

He was trying to buy a .45-caliber pistol at a store in New Castle Township, police said. The store rejected his application and no sale was made.

At the time, Kessler was under indictment on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. The charges had a potential sentence of five years in prison.

During his trial, Kessler, 46, of Frackville said he thought the words “under indictment” meant indicted by a grand jury. He answered no, he said, because there was no grand jury indictment.

The Schuylkill County jury on Thursday rejected his testimony. He faces nine to 16 months in prison for the guilty verdicts for the false statement on the application and for unsworn falsification. Sentencing is set for May 17.

Kessler was suspended from his police chief’s job in 2013 and fired a year later, with a cash settlement, after he posted online videos in which he used profane language and fired several weapons.

In August 2016, he was found not guilty of the terroristic threats and harassment charges that made his pistol application false.
