Thank you. That will be very helpful for someone.

Of the tools shown, I have a torque wrench - and a large rock.

Well, the money I saved getting the rail at a super discounted price will be applied towards paying someone to install it for me.

If I were closer, I'd do it for you. Nothing better than boogering up someone else's gun.

You're in Pittsburgh area. I'm sure someone would do it for you. I know I would. It's really pretty simple

Yeah, like most things mechanical, if you have the proper tools you can do it without much effort.

It does look simple enough - I just have no interest in screwing around trying to do it half-assed.
I'd rather pay someone who already has the tools and has done it before.

It's why my (now) two "builds" were done using completed uppers.

If it wasn't for the FSB, I'd do it for you. However, I've taken the FSB off of two barrels, and didn't remotely enjoy it. Add in the fact it would be yours and not mine, that stress of causing possibly causing any damage would be hanging over my head.

Any suggestions on what to look for/what to avoid in an A2 carry handle? (not for the free float build)

I did some looking, but didn't find much info.
I'll consider paying "middle of the road" price as opposed to a twenty dollar airsoft sight, but I'm not looking to spend money needlessly.

It seems they are "all the same" in function, but I want something secure and durable that has the dual apertures.

Oh, and any tips on a unit that doesn't have those cheesy knobs would be rep-worthy and welcome!

USGI A3 handles are typically on AR15.com or Fleabay for around $25 bucks. I'll try to dig you up a link.

ETA not seeing any today, but they are consistently on there. I've picked up a few to cut for my guns.

Should have forging mark, Cardinal head, Splinter A, A with a number ( A6, A8 ) etc., dual apertures, and steel sight part.

I grabbed one at a gun show cheap. He had a couple of ammo cans full and I picked through until I found the least abused.

Birthday money came to the rescue!
I looked around for a few days and couldn't find a better price on a "real" carry handle, so I ordered one for $50 shipped from the next to last link above.
I didn't want a cheap one and it's pretty hard to tell junk from non-junk in most product listings, so I felt safer with this deal understanding that they were Colt take-offs.

Oh, and I found my missing trigger. Actually, Mrs EM found it for me.

I think the next affordable item I will look into is a sling and I'm pretty sure I'm going to try a Sheriff of Baghdad sling based on the light weight and flexible nature of the webbing used. The "stationary" adjustment point seems like a nice design as well.
