Well, until someone can prove the metrics on pinned vs set screw, I'm not losing sleep over it. Sure, pinned is more secure, but I haven't had any set screws walk out.

    3. Bolt
    4. Free float rail

To get precision out of the gun, the shooter has to become consistent and a good trigger will help you do that.

Good tip if you want to check your rifle's accuracy. If you're doing a 5-round group (as you should be doing), put a cheap 6th round in there and pop it off into the berm before you do your grouping. Part of precision is consistency and this allows the BCG to cycle the same from 1st to 5th round. This was taught to me by a guy that knows a thing or two about murdering things from far away.
Check out a guy named Joe Carlos he has some excellent build tips and covers the reason that the upper and barrel extension can have an effect on accuracy.

If you use set screws you can acquire Rocksett from silencer shop in single dose packets for just a few bucks and free shipping.

Mcmaster Carr pt. 90289A337, I've seen these screws recommended several times in my research on the subject....looks like it would do the job well?

McMaster-Carr is one of my favorite distributors. They have something for everything.

Any serious working gun should have the gas block pinned to the barrel.

My noveske barrel came with the pin to pin it and a set screw to keep it in place during the process. Does that mean that i should remove the set screw because it's pinned? What I'm getting from this is it's either one or the other.

The US Military's MK12 isn't pinned, is it?

No it's not. My comment was made in jest. I've never had a set screw backed out from shooting it. Pinning a gas block is just an extra measure to ensure that the gas block will not work itself loose. Only one of my guns has a pinned gas block and that's on my SPR.

If you have a rail that covers the gas block, it doesn't matter. If you smash the rail to the point to where it rotates the gas block, you have bigger issues to worry about.
