Default Marple township (Delaware county) preemption violation

Saw a sign at Veterans Memorial Park today. I visited the township website to see if it was just an out of date sign but the website also says "No shooting, trapping, or firearms are allowed in twp parks."

    http://www.marpletwp.com/Parks.html

So I will be getting a letter together. Hopefully some time this month and see what they have to say (if anything).

My old hunting grounds (before the park was built). Having that Howitzer in the park is breaking the law, no?

How long has that park been there? I grew up in Broomall but that park has to be pretty recent. I moved my Mom out of Broomall to assisted living in 2001 and sold her house so I haven't been down there much in recent years.

The township code doesn't preclude firearms that I can find.

The only references to firearms in the entire township code deal with discharge - not possession:

Looks like the sign doesn't match the township code and may be the result of the park commission establishing 'rules' outside of the scope of the official ordinances.
