The get together with the 'old gang' was just super.

Now the hunt----Hunting a woods line and watching a field.

7:20 AM A nice doe steps out into the field 20 yards from me and stops. Just trots off.
7:22 Am 3 does step out and stop in the same spot as the first. All 3 just trot off.
    7:25 AM 3 more does-----Same movie---All 3 trot off.
7:32 AM A nice spike steps out. Stops in same spot, then heads after the does.
7:40 AM What have we here ? Real nice Y. Stops in same spot as his relatives. Try as I might, I could not grow that 3rd point. Trots off to find his ladies. No shot, but who cares. It was a great day to be in the field.

Probably my last deer hunt-----It was spectacular.

Out for the last two hours of daylight in 5B and got thoroughly soaked. It did not stop raining and I only saw a small doe or button buck running through some corn. Got wet...but hey I was hunting.

    And positive stories we got.

Great job guys.. Congrats to you successful hunters.

I didn't see a doe in my back yard till 5 PM and they ( all 5) were 70yds out.
I took the bolt out of my crossbow, stuck it in the quiver and looked down to see a buck looking at me. Couldn't tell what it was but knew he was small and it was too late to shoot but it made my day.

I knew he was standing in front of my trail cam so went back later and pulled the card.

    Here's another mini 27movie.

Edritchey, Recon nice going on your harvest. I seen 8 deer today, 4 baldies, 3 bucks which were not legal and 1 tail on my way out. I'll be back at em at 6 am.

Well mine was a "barely legal" 6 but a decent size deer. Saw 14 deer by
11:30 when he came out and I was ready to end the tree stand time. Most of them yearlings which seems to be the norm.

Plus we all had a nice visit from the local WCO pair.

I shot a decent buck in PA yesterday. I may take a walk this afternoon with the pistol. Then again, I may save the doe tag to hunt with the flintlock. I have off from the 23rd to the 6th. I may get a photo up later this evening. Good luck everyone.

I got two yesterday. Shortly after legal shooting light I had one come in from my 2 o'clock trying to get to the thicket behind me. Didn't know I was there and as it put its head down, I sent one at it. Shot went in right around the base of the neck and got the heart, dropping it right there, was a 37 yard shot (ranged it after I gutted him). Turned out to be a button buck but he'll eat just fine.

About 2 hours later I heard steps coming from head on from one thicket trying to get to the one behind me. I had my gun half-way up and a small spike showed its face. I waited for one of the others to present a shot (there were 4 of them) and one finally did. I was able to get my gun up completely by that point and once the biggest one took the final step to get away from the others, I sent the bullet at her and drilled it in the lung. Was a 65 yard shit and only about a 20 yard track job. Sadly, the bullet deflected and got the stomach too but we got it cleaned out pretty well so the meat should be fine.

I spent the day in my stand in 5c. Saw 16 doe but didn't take any shots. Did not see a single buck. I only heard maybe 12 shots all day.

I may try to get out Thursday afternoon . If not I'll be at camp for the entire second week. Looking forward to it.
