    Default School me on parkerizing

So am working on making my 870p a sbs. I need to get the receiver engraved which of course is parkerized. When It is engraved I assume it will go thru the parkerizing and will have to be redone. So is it something I can do myself or do I need to get a pro to do it?

(Edited) Forget what I posted; homedefender, see the next post below - there's your answer.

If you do re-park, be sure to liberally apply oil afterward because the phosphate crystals have huge surface area and large interstitial space between crystals, and are intended to absorb oil and hold onto it, thus providing corrosion resistance.

Can't quite get what Noah zarch is saying, but I do parkerizing for 25 plus years. Just a receiver will run you about $65 plus OR minus.....depends on my prep work in which we will have to discuss. It's not a big deal, let me know if you have any questions 570-242-9044 or scott.a.manhart@gmail.com

Thanks for the info. Will the whole receiver need to be redone or just what was engraved?

If you are into gun projects and will have more down the line then it's always good to invest in your skills. You will have to invest a little cash but knowledge always pays off in the end.
