430 lb Buck- real or fake?

Anyone see the FB pics of what is supposed to be a 430 lb buck taken in Hartford MI?

I'm guessing fraud but ya never know......

If they castrated it, and fed it growth hormones maybe, but not a natural buck. I dont do face book and refuse to go to their site so just my non scientific opinion.

Unless they shot someones cow like mentally challenged city people have been known to do..

Supposedly the photo is real but the buck was shot on a fenced hunting preserve in 2009. According to snopes.com the photo circulates annually with incorrect information claiming to be a new kill.

Oh Deer..

Ok first, that is not a Virginia White tail like you might be used to, that is a red deer or possibly a mule deer . You can tell by its antlers usually, just remember, the Canadian moose is a species of "Deer" .


Some of the bigger white tails are generally found north. Often Canadians will say Northern USA white tail look like large german shepherds.. The ones I have seen seemed rather small compared to what I am used to up here in the north.

But when it comes to Mule deer and red deer in the west, you are looking at a whole new ball game.

Yeah, that picture has been floating around for several years now. It is real and it is a whitetail, not a mule deer or red deer, but it was shot on one of those "canned hunts" where the deer are all fenced in and they selectively breed the deer. The article I read the first time I saw the picture said that you could buy a straw full of semen from their breeder bucks for several thousand dollars to breed your own does, like they do with cows and race horses.
