K31 tag, I never knew!
So I had out my K31 last night and decided to finally look up info online about it. I thought it was a mid 50's one, but its actually a 1949 one! Also saw about looking under the butt plate for a tag. I have one! Really neat to see who had it first!

Re: K31 tag, I never knew!
The cool thing about K31's is that compared to just about every other WW2 era rifle that was heavily used and rebuilt with a mish mash of parts many times over, K31's typically lived with one soldier during their active reserve career and some kept them after service. So these rifles were well built to begin with but also taken care of and kept warm and dry in someones house.
These rifles will continue to trickle into the US for a while as they can be bought in Switzerland for less than $100 and some families that don't want them after the soldier in question dies, they turn them into the government and then onto an importer over here.

Re: K31 tag, I never knew!
After acquiring my 1947 K31 w/troop tag, I sold all of my other bolt action milsurps (I'm a shooter not a collector) None could touch the K31 in accuracy or construction. Being a lefty was instrumental in me liking the K31 over traditional bolt action milsurps. The straight pull design is much easier to work for a lefty. I also love that it has a removable magazine for fast reloads.

Re: K31 tag, I never knew!
I'd buy another K31 before I would buy another mil surp. Next time AIM gets another batch in or if I happen to see a nice one somewhere I might buy another. Super nice rifles, very accurate and a bargain.

Hans owned my k31. I used to have 3, now only 1. The most accurate rifle (for the money) I have ever owned. 400yrds open sights is a walk in the park.

I hate this thread
I had wanted to buy one earlier this year but talked myself out of it since I also want to purchase a 308. Now I'm back to wanting a K31. What is the ammo availability for these?Socialism is for the people, not the socialists - Andrew Wilkow

That is pretty neat to know some of the history of the rifle. Thanks for posting it.
