Help with a Charles Flaig custom gun...
Hello all,
I live in Little Rock Arkansas and recently got my hands on a beautiful gun that I have since come to find out was built by a Mr. Charles Flaig sometime in the early sixties probably. He owned a gun shop just north of Pittsburgh for years as I understand it.
Anyway, my gun is a 30.06 using a 98K Mauser action with a 24" Douglas heavy, and I do mean heavy, barrel on a custom wood stock. I believe the gun was built in the early sixties and I have read a as much as I could find on Mr. Flaig.
The gun is amazingly accurate. I wanted to post some pictures to see if anyone remembers him or his work and could possibly tell me anything more about the gun.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam

Re: Help with a Charles Flaig custom gun...
Flaig's Guns sat on a hill off Babcock Blvd., outside Millvale, which is a suburb of Pittsburgh. He was a fine custom gunsmith, but also had a showroom containing guns made around the world. I recall seeing a lot of drillings there in one of the cases. I bought (thru my dad) my first handgun (Ruger Super Single Six) there in 1969. I recall overhearing men in there talking about hunts in the Western US, Canada, Alaska and Africa. I don't know if the bldg. is still there, it was an old log cabin, but the shop went out of business sometime in the 1980's. Shame, I used to love going in there, had some really unique stuff.
