    Default NJ Resources...

Hello all, I'm planning to take a training class in NJ next year, I was hoping some folks here would be able to point me to the right places so as to educate myself on the laws for bringing a firearm into the PRNJ.

    Thanks!

EDIT - Oh, probably should start at that sticky at the top of the page right thar. Whoops.

Best advice I've found for taking a gun into the PRNJ is "DON'T"

What's the course? Long gun or handgun? Can you rent one of their firearms? When I lived in NJ the only time you could transport a handgun was with your FID card and to the range (directly) and back to your home---directly. I always kept everything locked and separate and kept my range receipt with me at all times.

I believe if you're training you should get some sort of course training itinerary with your name , date, course, etc---even then that state makes me neurotic. Contact the place that is giving you the training and see what they suggest. if it were me, I'd take the course in DE or PA if possible.

There are enough classes in PA and the rest of America that I wouldn't bother going to NJ.

One of the better training groups, GunforHire' in Woodland Park, NJ, does some of it's training sessions in Easton, PA.

You can get the best of both worlds that way: Good training and stay out of PRNJ.

The class I'm taking is being held in conjunction with them. Class info lists both locations. In light of what you've said, the training is probably taking place only in PA.

    Time to contact them, thanks!

There are very limited allowances for possession of a handgun or a long gun in NJ.

Mere possession of even a long gun off your property in NJ is illegal without a FIOD card of some sort - unless you are going directly to/from a range, hunting, gunsmith. ....or something like that.

Either don't go to NJ or go to NJ without a gun.

Turns out the shooting portion of the class takes place in PA and the classroom portion in Jersey.

    Thanks for the help all.
