Talking Walther PPX - I love my Big Ugly Gun !

I just got a Walther PPX, my first new gun (I've only been shooting for 7 weeks now). Wow, just ... wow. I am one happy camper ! Some people say it's ugly, it's too big, but for a range/Home Defense gun it's beautiful to me. It feels great in my hand, gave me really good results, and it was a helluva bargain, IMHO.

I'd seen a lot of discussion about the Turkish Canik 55 TP9, which is a Walther clone that's gotten some good reviews, and I was curious. Of course, none of my LGS's had the beast, but they did have the Walther PPX and PPQ. Close enough to test out the odd-looking grip (some call it a 'hoof'), which fits my hand pretty well. So I lusted after the PPQ but it's out of my budget, HOWEVER the PPX's are going very cheaply right now, below the clone-from-turkey prices, so why buy a clone when you can buy the original ? I'm very, VERY happy with my decision, the gun got here in no time, and the price was lower than ANY decent used gun I've seen listed here, armslist, wherever. Very manageable recoil, easy to shoot with either hand and almost effortless with two. No issues whatsoever on the first time out, and my results were the best I've ever had, by far.

So, say what you want about the look, shape, brand - don't mind, don't care. I love my Big Ugly Gun!

It is kinda of like a German made Hi point but it works better if a little chunky by all reports. I hear Walther has dropped the prices on these to move them and might be introducing one that is a little more attractive to the eye.

At least it isn't Hi Point, butt ugly, but it is different. I would like to at least hold one to feel that cut away arch.

I'm no fan of the ppx, but you were smart to stay away from the canik, they are terrible

I see Canik has a new version of the TP9 that is single action only (TP9SA). No more of the double stage trigger. Is the trigger the reason you don't like it or is there another reason?

Just curious since I'm thinking of picking one up.

To the OP. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum and gun ownership. Careful thou as these guns have a sneaky way of multiplying.

PPX is built like a tank ,it shoots like the Ruger P89 and looks like a hi point with the big bulky slide. Walther did make good guns before they got involved with smith and wesson, i have a P99 imported by Interarms i love that gun!

enjoy your new PPX its an excellent gun.

I've been looking into these in 40-caliber. They do seem to be quality guns.

My biggest complaints are the trigger and the sights. Although quality throughout is shoddy, fit and finish on the internals is what you might expect on a chinese airsoft pistol. I'm not a big fan of the grip shape either

I have seen the TP9SA, and it looks like they've fixed most of the major issues. I may look into buying one depending on how much I like how it feels.

If it is anything like my other Walther's you got a bargain. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info. From looking at the online reviews it seemed everyone really liked them. ISO 9001 and all that stuff made it sound like these things were a great buy.
