Re: Better Bullets and PC Bullets
Stopped by Friday morning and picked up 1000 PC bullets in 9mm.
My wife thinks they are pretty and now wants a 9mm so she can shoot them.

Re: Better Bullets and PC Bullets
These undoubtedly aren't armor piercing, and it's true that Teflon doesn't make a bullet armor piercing. But because of a stupid moral panic spurred by a hyperbolic report by NBC in the 80's, teflon-coated bullets are widely thought of as "cop killer" bullets. And thus we ended up with 18 Pa.C.S. § 6121: Certain bullets prohibited in PA.
The good news is, even if this bullets are PTFE-lubed or otherwise met the definition of "KTW teflon-coated bullet or other armor-piercing ammunition", possession and use are only prohibited when if you "commit a crime of violence as defined in section 6102".I am not a lawyer. Nothing I say or write is legal advice.

Re: Better Bullets and PC Bullets
Ok, back on topic. I just returned from the range testing these PC bullets over different recipes. Bad news. At first, everything seemed fine. I had shot less than 50 rounds total of the 230gr PC, 200gr LSWC's, and 185gr LSWC's all being loaded at starting load weights, NO POWER HOUSE LOADS. Let me emphasize that..NO POWERHOUSE LOADS! So before anyone suggests that the barrel got leaded up due to shooting lead bullets with it, forget that. I cleaned the barrel thoroughly yesterday and treated it with CorrosionX. I had shot maybe 15 rounds of lead bullets and about 10 rounds of PC. That's when I started getting some of the PC rounds jamming the barrel. At first it only took a few taps vertically of the slide to unjam the round from the barrel with the round falling out intact. The second 50 rounds were awful. I would estimate the PC rounds jammed 10-15 times out of approximately 25 PC rounds. The lead bullets NEVER jammed. Additionally, when I finally did get the slide unjammed, the bullet head separated from the case, sticking in the chamber. A few taps from a screwdriver and they fell out.
Furthermore, I really didn't notice any difference in smokiness. I think the polycoatings' thickness is too much. I am about to clean my guns, then afterwards I will get out the calipers and post some diameters.Last edited by Sparxfly72; November 29th, 2014 at 03:36 PM.

Re: Better Bullets and PC Bullets
Being down the coated bullet route I've seen something similar to this in my own R&D. Mainly in my friends 1911 45. He had failure to chamber right around the 50-75 bullet count on a fresh clean barrel. And it happened twice after cleanings at our last IDPA shoot. I have a feeling what's going on and I bet its not a size issue. I am in no way saying there is something wrong with Rogers bullets as his reported quality is top notch. Not that I ever used them because I make my own.
And I don't know if what I experienced is your issue but its sounds familiar. I'll explain what I think after you get back to us.Last edited by DucatiRon; November 29th, 2014 at 04:04 PM.
