Hi. My first thread of an Ohio resident
Hello. I live in Warren County, OH, and want to get a PA non-resident license. I have my OH CHL.
I was wondering if Fayette, Greene, Washington and/or Westmoreland counties are good for out of state residents.
Would my current CHL be sufficient, or will I also need to produce my training certification.
Thank you for any and all information!

Re: Hi. My first thread of an Ohio resident
A training certificate isn't needed for PA.
As for which county is friendly to issuing to non-residents, hopefully someone else can help you. ...I don't know. But I'm sure there are some along the western tier.
Greene County used to be unfriendly under the old sheriff Richard Ketchem(heck of a name for a sheriff). But there is a new person in office now..Last edited by knight0334; November 1st, 2014 at 05:22 PM.

Unless someone can give you a positive yes for a specific county you would prefer to travel to, I would call around and see who is willing to issue to a non res. By law they are all suppose to do it, but unfortunately the law doesn't apply to those elected to enforce law.

THank you, knight and Godscountry.
We have the same problems in OH, from what I understand. Enforcement officials enforicng what they think is the way things should be...I digress.
But, hey! Things are getting better for LACs.
Thank you for the heads up!

Check each county sherrff's website. Call them also. Butler County is simple and easy. Lawrence requires references from Lawrence county residents. I think Crawford is supposed to be a good one.

FWIW McKean does issue non res. At least the previous sheriff did. We currently have an interim sheriff.
