Re: guide rod
Hoppes sell's kits withs metal rods and cleaning supplies which I bought with my first pistol. Tipton makes very nice carbon fiber rods that I just switched to after checking them out on midway. The smallest rods i've found were 12" though.

Re: guide rod
Does it work fine with the plastic rod?
I only ask because IMO if something ain't broke don't fix it. My EAA Witness had a full length metal rod, my CZ 75 a short plastic one. The CZ works great and the EAA was a lemon which has definitely one of the things that's made me question the value of full length rods, molded vs forged and a host of other options.

Re: guide rod
If you're that picky, find a local machine shop to turn you one on a lathe. It's not that hard. Just choose your material. But as it has been previously stated,"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
