The new IWI Galil ACE, coming early 2015

I always liked the look of the old Galil, not sure about the looks of the modernized ACE, which is being rapidly adopted by various armed forces around the world. Early 2015, IWI will be selling it here in the USA, chambered in 7.62x39, using regular AK mags. Price is probably going to be over a $1000 so I'm not sure what to think yet.

My friend is looking to pre-order one of these ASAP, so I should get to shoot it as soon as it's available.

I think it should be an interesting piece. Definitely not junk coming from IWI.

Holy balls. Really? It was said it would be less than the Tavor.

I'd consider the Sig xxi rifles to be a competitor and I think those run around $1100-$1200.

The main selling point on these with various armies that have adopted them is the price, a cheap price at that.

The price of the Tavor kept me away. (and I am sure others) If this Galil streets around the price of the Tavor I expect the same result. That said I am liking this Galil.

Street price has fallen on the Tavor to around $1600. Not great but not horrible either. I examined one and held it and without shooting it I found it to be a very natural feel with the ergonomics compared to an AR and looks sturdy enough that it would last a lifetime of regular use.

I was big on the Tavor before it came out, wanted one, but the initial $2000 price killed it for me and reports on the poor trigger were a turnoff at the time too(now fixable with aftermarket drop in trigger packs).

I think this modern Galil is kind of fugly, but if I was to own a 7.62x39 gun I'd probably want it over a bog standard AK. However if they drop a $1500 plus price down for it, forget it.

IMO the street price on the Tavor should be around $900-$1000. There really isn't much to one and a sizeable portion is molded plastic. The Galil appeals to me more than an AK. Pllus I dig the side folder.
