McCauslin Rifles

Just had a precision rifle done by McCauslin Rifles in Carlisle. I must say Chad did a fantastic job! He cut and crowned a barrel, inlayed the DBM, bedded the action and floated the barrell. In addition he cerakoted the barrel to match the Mellonited action. He delivered on time and at a cost I was happy with. I can't recommend his work enough! Pics attached (I think)

I'm not a great shot, that was at 115 yds out of a clean bore 5 rounds of 308.

Nice gun and nice group, especially on a cold barrel. Can you provide any details on the build? Was there a "donor" action or this was a scratch build?

Scratch build, I ordered a Stiller Tac-30 (308) action and Bartlien M-24 profile barrel, 5R rifling in a 1/10 twist from Southern Precision, got a Bell & Carlson Medalist from Stockys and bottom medal from PTG, I had McCauslin Rifle cut and crown the barrel at 22" inlay the bottom metal into the stock and open the barrel channel to accept the M-24 barrell, in addition he cerakoted the stainless barrel to match the action and bedded the action to the barrel, His work is really beautiful, I must say. It all fits well and looks great. I took the nearly completed rifle home and finished it with a Huber trigger, cleaned it and ran it through a barrel break in and then ran these 5 rounds through it. I'm sure a real shooter could punch a bug hole with it (I'm working on it). At the end of the day it only cost about $300.00 more to build a custom gun of this quality over buying a donor and throwing half of it away. Chad is the first Gunsmith in the area who's work I've been fully satisfied with, I'd have to say he exceeded my expectations, he's a craftsman who takes pride in his work.

May I ask? What is the total weight and what scope? (PLEASE forgive me is this was done with iron sights...LOL)

I'm using a Bushnell HDMR scope with a Tremor 2 reticle. The rifle weighs in at 13 pounds so it's no mountain rifle but I expected the weight.
