    Default Scratch Restoration

As seen in my Raging Bull Gun Pictures thread, I managed to put an idiot scratch on the left side of the barrel courtesy of a river rock, while taking some photos. It is a very light scratch but will not rub out with a damp cloth. The finish of the gun is matte stainless. I can live with it as a character scratch, but if anyone has a suggestion of how to rub it out without affecting the rest of the finish...I'm all ears! I don't want to polish the whole gun because I like the matte finish on this monster!

The problem is that it's a matte finish. If it was glossy or brushed, you'd easily be able to remove the scratch. My only thought is if you can bead blast it maybe that would work.

That's going to be tough to fix easily. If you do find a possible solution try it under the grips first to see whats going to happen.

Do you know anyone with a small sand blaster, like the ones on the end of a air brush? Pull it out of the stock and give it a try on the bottom. Try different grit.

I think I'll just keep it the way it is! It adds character! LOL

Just like a new car, the first scratch is always the hardest!

I'll post a pic of the damage tonight.

I cant believe I am going to give you this trick free....

Ok take a kight sand paper, some thing around 150 to 180 grit, place it over your scratch and peen it lightly with a hammer, the grain of the paper will restore the bumps of the glass bead.

Take it easy couple taps, have a look, couple taps move the paper from time to time as its going to get crushed...

    tell me how it goes

Thanks Frenchy! But you don't know how terrifying the thought of putting 180 grit paper to my already damaged barrel is! LOL...I'll post a hi-res pic tonight so you guys can see the actual scratch...
