Ruger SR40C mag release not working correctly

I was at the range the other day and I shot a mag out of the ruger and reloaded and when I went to put it back in it would not click in. I noticed the mag release button was still in on the left side. I pushed it from the other side and it came out but was very hard to push in and out and wouldn't come out on its own when pushed in from the left side. it seems to work from the right side but its still hard to push from that side. my question is can that area be removed easily to look at it or should I just take it to a gunsmith to check out? im guessing either a spring in there broke or something else broke causing it not to come back out?

I'd sent it back to Ruger. They gave me quick and precise customer service for the one problem I had with an SR9c.
