The Secret valley Train from Boyertown to Pottstown was open for the first time today 10/18/14. I bought Tickets early so we were guaranteed a seat. I was concerned about carrying CC on the Train. Since I did not not see any signs prohibiting CC I got on the Train.

Then I read the back of the Ticket after getting on the train. The Ticket reads as follows word for word!

Games of Chance and Intoxicating Liquors are Permitted Only in Parlor Car. Livestock and Unruly Children Must be Checked with the Baggage Agent.

Conductors Cannot Accept I.O.U.s, Produce, Baked Goods, or Other forms of Barter in Lieu of Legal Tender.

After reading the Ticket I was all Doesn't it make you wonder WTF made them come up with Rules like this??

Its kind of tongue in cheek rules that might have been more seriously stated at the turn of the century. Unruly children and livestock , food items bartered for train fare, etc.

This train line, if you read the papers from the time it was approved, is political theft. The supposed charity behind the creation of the line has a board of directors. Every one of them is on the board of a for-profit company that intends to use that same rail line for profitable freight lines. The non-profit gets the state to pay to fix the rails for the play train, while the for-profit gets the lines fixed for free for their money train. Surprise.

It might very well be word for word copy of the original 19th century ticket. Those things are available in museums etc.
