8 rnd 1911 mags (need recommendations)
I was looking to buy some spare 8 round mags & it seems my oem ACT-mag has some problems with cracked feed lips - some have had them for years without a problem - but several people came up on the google search & 1911 forum to make me unwilling to put my money in that direction.
Since PAFOA knows all - please help me know what I should buy. I do not mind, kind of like the baseplate of the act-mag."Cives Arma Ferant"

Wilson Combat or KimPro.
KimPro, at least in my Remington 1911, won't quite seat properly (the mag is a little longer, so it sits a little higher), so if you put in a mag with the full 8-rounds, it won't cycle.

I have a Kimber 1911 in 10mm so its Mec-Gar all the way for me. Have been w/o any flaws all this IDPA season.

I use Chip Mcormick's because I got a good deal on a bunch of them. I've never had a problem with them. The original for my RIA is a Mecgar I believe and works the same as the Mcormicks. Both should be better than the ACT mags, I have read about lots of problems with those.

^^This.
Chip Mcormick 1911 mags are excellent they come in stainless and in blue if you want to save a few bucks. I have put thousands of rounds through a few .1911's and other then the 1 or 2 OEM mags they come with like Kimber all my spares are CM. That being said Mec Gar makes excellent mags and has supplied OEM mags for some of the biggest pistol manufactures for years you cat go wrong using either one.

Wilson 47D or Tripp Research Cobra mags. CMC mags are good as well, I would change the steel follower out, though. There have been instances where the followers have caused damage to the frame.

I have different brands and the only ones I have problems with are ProMag.

I don't have a 1911, but I do have two Sig P220's which of course is a single-stack .45 ACP. I have about 15 magazines for them with more than half being ACT mags. No problems at all.
