Few things I learned from a guy that's BTDT.

    1. You want the upper receiver to be a tight fit to the barrel extension. If you have to heat the upper to get the barrel to fit into the receiver, that's a good thing.

    2. A quality barrel.

    3. A quality BCG that does not snag on anything and freely moves back and forth (this allows for better consistency when chambering a round).

    4. A quality trigger that has a consistent pull.

    5. If you're doing a 5 round group, put a 6th one in there and pop it into the berm and then do your groupings. This is how you ensure consistency with the BCG chambering the next round (the goal is consistency).

    6. Barrel harmonics and follow-up shots.

    7. Free-float rail if you're going to put any type of load on the rail.

    8. Quality match grade ammo.

Short answer: 100 yards, 5 shots benched using 52 grain HPBTs, 3000 fps, 10x scope
    http://s1007.photobucket.com/user/bs...tml?sort=6&o=3

100 yards prone slow fire 20 shots, iron sights:
    http://s1007.photobucket.com/user/bs...tml?sort=6&o=2

Rifle: Started life as a Bushmaster "NM". Swapped for a flat top receiver and replaced the "frank white" trigger with an Armalite two stage. Barrel is chome-moly-vanadium with a 1/8 twist.

The bottom line is that a properly equipped AR (good sights, trigger, ammunition, and barrel) can hold sub MOA. The question is and has always been, is the operator that accurate?

This rifle shot this 25 rd group

    With a 16x scope I did these 5rd group

That was before I free floated the barrel with a Vltor Casv-m
1/2 moa @ 100m is good enough for me.
Basics are LMT lower, Geisselle sd3g trigger, Vltor upper, BHW 18" poly 1:8 barrel.

Now I want to go shoot all my guns...but alas, they are 497 miles away. Poop.

I've been following some threads on other forums and some of these groups guys are getting through their Rock River Arms rifles are ridiculous, almost unbelievable. I'm very happy with a sub minute AR (I.e. .99" at 92 yards).

Fun hypothesis; The MTU claims that Geisssele triggers increase accuracy due to an increased consistency of primer ignition.

Can we set some parameters on this?

100 yards minimum, minimum group of 5 shots, 3 groups minimum?

Also, can we get this stickied?

Also important is the fast lock time of the Geissele triggers.

I have a Rebel Arms RBR-15 that has a 1/9 barrel. The best groups I have shot have been about 1.5" at 100 yards using PMC M855 62gr. With Federal 55gr I have only seen about 2" at 50 yards. I'm confident the rifle could do 1moa but it is definitely more accurate than I am.

Here's my first actual group contribution to this thread, I took my new build out for the first time to get it zeroed and put some rounds through the new gun.

The ammo I used is ZQ1 mil-spec from wally world.

    Gun specs are:
    Spikes matched upper and lower
    Spikes 16" LW-50 barrel, 223 wylde, 1/8 polygonal
Scope is a SWFA SS 12x42 in a ADM
    Trigger is a Geisslel SSA

I shot these groups off of my range bag at 100 yds, not the most steady rest but it was good enough for this time.

Next time out I'll use a better rest with some better ammo.

Don't mind the used targets, they were all I had so I had to put tape over the holes before shooting. Only had two out of the 5 with no holes.

    this was my setup

This is my first group after getting in the ring, first shot was high then I clicked a few down and left it there.

    2nd group

    3rd group

    4th group

And finally my best shooting was done on the last group. ETA: I measured this group again because it looked smaller, it's .620 not .717.

All in all I was pretty happy considering what I used as a rest. I really knuckled down on my last two groups and got them under MOA.

I'm not sure. At first I thought the target was completely gone, but now I can see it is actually on fire at the base of the berm.

    What MOA is that?

The 4 groups averaged 1.070 at 100yds, My goal today was to get it zeroed and shoot a few groups with the ZQ1 ammo. Overall I'm satisfied with the results and looking forward to the next outing with better ammo and a better rest.

ETA: I measured the groups again because the last one looked smaller, and yes the last group measured .620 not .717, the others were right. This would make the average 1.046.
