80% lowers @ gun show
Has anyone been to a gun show and seen any 80% lowers? I would like to buy some, FTF with cash (for obvious reasons).

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
was at the oaks show last weekend. saw several venders with and also had the jigs to go with. several types from the plain original to the enhanced types as well. these venders are at the oaks on a regular basis (at least the last three shows). have not been to any other shows for awhile but would expect them at any of the larger shows. happy shopping. btw with complete lowers selling at around 50$ why bother? you always have the old (i sold that long ago) deniability. with no paper requirement on ftf sales in pa. what can they say?

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
Once I thought about the 80% lowers, but they cost more and that whole paper trail is over rated. Just buy them on the classifieds if you are that paranoid.
Unless you have the right tools and knowledge...most of those 80% lowers come out looking like crap.
Now if you have a CNC machine, that's a different story.

Agree with the others. "Real" lowers can be had for less than these ingots are being sold for.
OTOH, if you just have to DIY, there was a dealer at the last Wash Cty show. All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
A friend of mine made a few 80% lowers into receivers.
It was a bunch of dicking around. It's easy to get wrong, and it's really easy to remove too much material.
OTOH, it's a great way to build an undocumented rifle or pistol.
In this case undocumented means just that. Not Illegal, just not documented with .GOV.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

GH0ST GUNS...
Yeah, I've seen them at shows. Well, I've only been to one show in the last few years, but I saw them.
I considered it, but ended up just buying a normal one FTF instead. Or did I?I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
the nice thing about 80% are they dont have somebodys huge ugly roll mark on them so you have plenty of room to engrave whatever you want on them

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
I've thought about going the 80% route to build a "not a rifle" with the possible later intention of going SBR. The NFA engraving would then be the only engraving on it.
Would any of you guys consider carrying an AR pistol made from an 80%? I'm thinking more as a trunk gun than an actual on a sling edc.

Re: 80% lowers @ gun show
If you carry one and ever have to use it, be prepared for a crapstorm of fury and sound over you daring to follow the laws.
John Law and the local DA / AG WILL react predictably to an un-serialized AR pistol and you will spend big $ saving your rights.
If I wanted to carry an AR pistol, I would buy a pistol lower for it.
In fact, I only carry guns that
1) have been entered in the PSP's illegal "database"
2) I can afford to lose.
Because if I gotta use it, I KNOW I'm gonna lose it at least for a while.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE
