    Default Is anyone concerned...

...that all the recent attention to OC and unlawful LEO action will either directly or indirectly end up bringing about legislation that will ban OC?

Just curious as to everyone's feelings.

PA courts allow the requirement to obtain an LTCF because they say allowing open carry satisfies the requirements of the PA Constitution.

So, if they outlawed OC, they would have to allow concealed carry without a LTCF.

Don't think they wanna go there.

So what does it take to amend the state constitution? I'm sure it would take a lot of lobbying, debate and politicians checking the wind direction, but at some point it is possible. What is the process? 2/3 vote or something like that?

As has happened in other states before PA... OC has brought to light many "problems" in need of fixing. Such as illegal police seizures of firearms due to the firearm not being in the PSP (not a registry) database. This has been going on for YEARS to CC'ers and no one has fought back... Then there is ordinances in violation of preemption that are being discovered. etc, etc

IOW: OC is GOOD for gun owners in general. Or so it has been so far.

So my answer is a "no" too

There was US Supreme Court ruling that stated rights cannot be taxed or have fees levied against them. .Murdock v Commonwealth.

And I think that a 1870's or 1880's ruling stated that open carry "can never"(I think was the actual words) be made illegal in the State of Pennsylvania. But concealed carry could be made illegal and regulated. ...still digging through my notes for that one.

NO! If that were the case then talking openly or posting on this message board will either directly or indirectly end up bringing about legislation that will ban Freedom of Speech.

From my limited time on this earth, I have realized that the government doesn't "HAVE" to do anything. They do whatever the hell they want. The US Congress, and the other branches, "have" to stick to their enumerated powers, we see how well that is working.
