    Default Pocket Carry Pistol

Looking for some ideas for a pocket carry pistol. Frequently I walk the dog wearing athletic shorts or sweat pants. I'm looking for something lightweight to pocket carry, maybe a derringer? Has to be lightweight as I don't want my pants/shorts falling down.

Basically would like something for self defense and for protection from other animals.

Backstory: Last night I was walking the dog and passed a woman asking if I'd seen a dog running off leash. I hadn't but asked her what to look for. She didn't know, just that it was a big dog.

Later I saw her with the dog and it was about the same size as my dog. I'm sure Tanner could hold his own (he's a Sheppard/Pit mix), but I really don't want to find out.

Howdy neighbor. I would hate to rely on a two shot weapon for any kind of defensive situation, man or beast. My lightest is a Taurus TCP (380). I sometimes prefer my j frame 38 snub. Not quite as light, but pretty small and I have more confidence in its stopping power.

If it's a type of animal that you would find in a suburban setting a 22 might be enough pistol for it. At that point there's a whole lot of small pocket revolvers and semi autos on the market that you should be able to find. If you need something with more power there are some pocket 25 and 32's worth looking into. I myself carry a 32 pocket pistol, an NAA Guardian, everywhere.

Frequently carry my TCP in gym shorts/pants.
I use a sticky style holster. Blackhawk I think.

Can carry it either iwb or in pocket.

Mine has been extremely reliable sans steel cased stuff not wanting to feed.
The hammer strikes the hard primers well though. It eats up S&B like a boss.

I carry +P(I know, no such thing) 95gr XTP from Underwood.

I don't feel undergunned when only carrying the TCP.

Great trigger and nice big trigger guard.

The TCP is one Taurus definitely got right.
Just stay away from used ones with a letter A serial.

New ones can be had for $199 with a single mag.

I sometimes carry my Ruger LCP in a Fobus paddle holster on the waistband of my athletic clothing. I have yet to moon anyone at the gym due to the weight of the gun.

I pocket carry a LCP and have carried a derringer before. The LCP was lighter and a much better choice IMO. I'm currently looking for a new pocket gun and really want a NAA guardian in .32, but availability has kept me from getting one.

If you want small and light look at the Keltec P32. Cheap, light, and can hold 10 rounds with the extended mag. This was also high on my list and I may still buy one just because it is so easy to carry.

I would personally go with a small auto like those mentioned above. The derringer/ mini revolver idea sounds good on paper. They are difficult to shoot with any accuracy, slow to manipulate, slow to reload, and hold very limited rounds. They are a last ditch weapon IMHO.

Keltec P32 - lightest and smallest .32 cal handgun in the world. Great for pocket carry. Just run the Buffalo Bore loads.

You might have to pull the strings on your shorts/sweatpants a bit but I think a LCP would work. I have done it for short periods in workout shorts. It bounces around a bit more than in jeans with a belt though.

There are some underwear and undershirts that are designed around carry of small pocket pistols.
