    Can you give me some insight on the actual "cutter" part of your design? I've been looking for some kind of "spring-loaded razor on a rail" part that I could graft on to a box, but I am not coming up with anything.

    I ordered the replacement cutter assembly from FoodSaver for I think under $3.00.

    Damn, you're a fast responder.

    Do you have a link or part number or anything?

    They are cheap enough to be disposable, they do make replacement parts though, I've changed the gaskets in my most recent one. My first one came with all kind of stuff I never used like a hose and containers for liquid vacuum freezing, that was the most expensive one. The one I have now was around $60. I could buy a couple more before I reach your price and have been using them over 6 or 7 years. They work real good, however, after sealing about 10 packages then I have to start waiting a couple minutes after every 3 or 4, sometimes even cycling off/on. I can deal with it. The most expensive part of the whole deal is the rolls, finding ones that work with it perfectly took some time but it's all good now.

    What rolls are you using now? Do they hold a seal? The no-name bags I've purchased off amazon were inexpensive compared to Foodsaver brand but didn't hold a seal. I went back to Foodsaver brand. For me, It's not worth saving $10 if the bags are inferior.

    Yeah, see, that would never be acceptable to me. I have a very low tolerance for bullshit, and I place a premium value on bullshit-free experiences. The level of bullshit associated with food savers has kept me from buying one for YEARS. I expect stuff to work, no bullshit, when I go to use it. Hopefully, that is what I will get with the one I bought (;

    I was getting them from The Sweet Attack, then they changed their name in between orders and I forgot to what, so now I'm using "Vacuum Sealers Unlimited"

    I work around it, I'll put what I have already wrapped away while waiting for it to cool, I have spent about half on my 3 machines over the years of what you have for your one. I wish you the best of luck with it, let me know your experience with it a bunch of years down the road.
