2 day Carbine I class w/ night shoot - October 18th & 19th, 2014
3 Rivers Tactical Training Solutions, Inc. is conducting a 2 day Carbine I Course on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday October 19th, 2014, at the Hopewell VFW Rifle Range. Hours are 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th, and 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th.
Topics covered will be:
1) Firearms Safety Rules
2) Developing Proper Situational Awareness and Combat Mindset
3) Carbine Zeroing
4) 7 Fundamentals of Carbine Marksmanship
5) HEAVY Emphasis on Carbine Reloads and Malfunction Clearing
6) Carbine to Pistol Transitions
7) Proper Use of Cover and Concealment
8) Threat Discrimination
9) Standard and Non-Standard Shooting Positions
10) Shooting While Moving
11) Night Shoot / Low Light Exercise
Required Equipment
1) Carbine with a sling. 2 point adjustable slings are very strongly recommended. A weapon mounted white light is optional, but very, very strongly recommended. Additionally, a red dot optic is highly recommended, but not required. All students using an optic must have back-up iron sights on their carbine.
Class III weapons are permitted. If using a Class III weapon, please inform us in advance.
Most students attend this course with an AR platform weapon, but any model carbine is permitted. We usually have at least a couple AK's in every class.
2) A minimum of 500 rounds of carbine ammo, and 100 rounds of pistol ammo.
3) A minimum of 5 carbine magazines and 2 pistol magazines. The more magazines the better.
4) The ability to carry at least two carbine magazines on your body, either by use of a chest rig or belt setup. A limited number of chest rigs are available for rent from 3T.
5) A serviceable pistol in at least 9mm is optional, but recommended. Pistols must be worn in a kydex or duty type holster, either strong side belt worn or drop leg. Chest rig mounted holsters are not permitted.
6) Tactical gloves are very strongly recommended. Baseball batting gloves also work very well.
6) A quality hand held flashlight is required of all students. A weapon mounted light on your carbine and pistol is very strongly recommended. Bring extra batteries for ALL lights - both handheld and weapon mounted.
6) Tinted and clear eye protection.
6) Hearing protection.
7) Knee pads are recommended.
8) Clothing appropriate for weather conditions. BDU / 5.11 type pants with side cargo pockets are highly recommended.
9) An open mind, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

I took this class with John last year and I'm really looking forward to my next class with him. John teaches you how to really run the gun, shoot in various positions, and be smooth with the basics. Great class and experience. The night shoot really shows you some things.
