Still say you got lucky as hell. That sounded like primer and no powder. Barrel, spring, guide rod and you are back in business

Think I'll be OK with the current guide rod. Only Bar-Sto makes a replacement... $240

Don't know. I haven't called SA yet. And no one else makes a barrel for the 5.25 in .45. In the end, Bar-sto is a great product. I doubt it'll make me a better shooter though!

Springfield doesn't sell replacement barrels. I would have to send it in and they quote 3-4 weeks turn around. Could be quicker, but no guarantee. On the upside it would only cost me about $120 for a new stock barrel to be fitted.

As I have a sanctioned match at the end of October, I would be pushing it for the turn around time. But it could be possible,

    So I'm torn right now:
option 1 - send it to SA and get a new stock barrel, be pushing things time wise and have no time to get rounds through it but spend $120 (approx)

option 2 - buy after market, have it in a few days and have time to put rounds through it but spend $240

    See the dilemma? Any thoughts?

    Oh wait...
option 3 - get the aftermarket and then after the competition season send the XDM to SA for a new barrel. Then I have a backup barrel....

Option 3 is dumb (unless you plan on doing this again) ... how about Option 4 - Send to SA and if not back in time use the 1911? If no, just buy the aftermarket now and be done with it

I don't understand why you chambered another round and fired. The gun had no significant recoil and clearly did not have a normal report. What did you think happened? Also, you could hear someone saying WHOA, WHOA, WHOA! before you fired the final round.

Add to this the fact that you shot yourself in the leg last year. Can you understand why people might be nervous being on the same squad as you? You might think I'm a dick by posting this, but mistakes in this sport can be very serious and permanent.

I thought it was a bad round, not a squib. And "whoa, whoa, whoa" is not a valid range command.

I'm sorry... since when are people nervous about being on the same squad as me? Do you know something I don't?
