    Default Range Officer 9mm

    Just acquired and it's breaking me in. Looks nice, fit and finish are good though the finish does have enough tooth to pick up some lint from the cleaning rags. The Gun comes complete from Springfield with a holster and double magazine pouch plus 9 round magazines.

    I just got it out to the range on Monday my first goal was to try to get the start of a 50 yard zero. Why 50? Because zeroed at 50 yds. my bullets (theoretically) would be less than two inches above point of aim at 25 yds. So theoretically at IDPA ranges I can hold center on the 0 points down area and not worry about adjusting poa. Theoretically. Well I had to settle for a half-fast 25 yard zero because I could not get my shots on a dinner sized paper plate. Quite possibly me because I haven't practiced that type of shooting for quite a number of years, Quite possibly the ammo, I wouldn't expect Wolf Military Classic to be target quality.

    I must say I didn't like the trigger. It seemed much too heavy and had a noticeable bit of movement just before it tripped. Reset was good though and the trigger pull wasn't as noticeable when I switched to IDPA practice mode.

    I only fired 130 rounds and of those only one misfire from a weak firing pin hit. Must continue letting the gun break me in. Maybe we'll get used to each other.

    Funny how they vary from gun to gun. My trigger is about the same as you described. My RO 45 had a heavy trigger but broke like glass with no creep.

    Good luck with it.

    Isn't 1911 territory usually 45cal in IDPA? I've shot minor in single stack. {USPSA}

    Thanks!

    Here's what IDPA says:
    The firearms are grouped into five (5) divisions: 1) Custom Defensive
    Pistol (.45ACP semi-automatics only); 2) Enhanced Service Pistol (9mm
    (9x19) or larger caliber semi-automatics); 3) Stock Service Pistol
    (9mm (9x19) or larger caliber double action, double action only, or
    safe action semi-automatics); 4) Enhanced Service Revolver (.38
    caliber or larger double action revolvers); and 5) Stock Service Revolver
    (.38 caliber or larger double action revolvers).
