Pre 68 hand guns
Wondering how everyone else approaches storage of their pre 68 handguns?
Do you store them separately incase the door gets knocked down when the confiscation starts? Is this a subject that should not be discussed publicly?
Just wondering.Sit down! You'll never clear leather.

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
Why are pre-68 handguns any different.?
Especially in PA. The PSP has had their ''record of sale'' since the 30s. Incomplete as it may be.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
That PSP record of sale was for new purchases. A lot of handguns were sold or given away by folks who were afraid of what was happening then.

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
I've sold all my handguns to dealers at gun shows.
I forget which shows because I go to so many, they paid me cash and I forget the names of the dealers...
In other words, what handguns?

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
Guns purchased before 1968? Or guns manufactured before 1968? Or guns that failed the point system set up for imports by GCA68?

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
What I'm saying is I know a guy. His father worked in a gun shop in the 60s. He told stories of people practically giving guns to him near the 68 laws and this guy I know has a couple unregistered items manufactured and "acquired" pre 68. He was wondering if he could take them out and enjoy them? What happens? Should he hide them ? Etc

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
Please think about this....
Do people from places like Texas have to register their firearms? Do they have to transfer them through an FFL? Have you ever heard of such a thing?
It's one thing if you bring handguns here to sell them without an FFL. You will get nailed for that if you're caught. If you're just owning them nobody seems to care.
Do people who make their own firearms - it's still legal- have to transfer them through a Dealer? I've never heard of such a thing. As long as they have a serial number and are not "invisible to metal detectors" nobody seems to care.
The Police do not ordinarily bother anyone at a shooting range. Only exception I've ever seen was when someone brought a full auto firearm. The Police would show up.... and want to shoot it.

Not sure I understand the question or the answers.

Re: Pre 68 hand guns
If it's true that you have had to fill out a state police "record of sale" form since the 30's then the majority of handguns that were bought and still are kept in PA are in a database somewhere.
In that case most handguns that are "off the roster" in PA would be those that were brought in by people who moved here from out of state and brought pistols with them.
In many states south and west you can buy handguns private party in a Walmart parking lot with a CCL, CWP, whatever with no paperwork."Glocks are 5 times as addictive as crack"
