Default Renew LTCF in Berks County?

I'm going to renew my license to conceal this week, I'll run up to the courthouse during lunch Tuesday or Wednesday I guess.

I downloaded the PDF form and filled it out on Friday, there's a space on it where you have to provide two references. Is that optional? Mandatory? I thought Berks did way with that requirement.

I realize it'll take me all of 45 seconds to fill in the names/addresses of two of my friends but really, is this information anything of value added to the process?

References are required. Why? That's a good question.

If at all possible and convenient, I would go try to go to a remote location for your permit. The remote locations are much easier and it's not in downtown Reading. Plus you don't have to pay for parking, check your firearms, etc...

I don't know of any references ever being contacted in Berks. If they did away with this requirement, maybe it is just an older form still on their website. Leave it blank and if they say that you must have them, fill them in then. Unless you are already downtown,I give a strong 2nd to the remote sites. They are so much easier and quicker, I have found. Most are in and out,no waiting and none of the previously posted inconveniences. I find it funny they have one right at the airport, but it's walk right in. Be advised, the office in the courthouse is closed 1-2pm daily. I love Berks Co. and Sheriff Weaknecht.

I would highly recommend going to the Airport Substation to renew your LTCF. Hours are 10am - 6pm, the terminal is quiet, parking is easy and free and you can avoid driving into downtown Reading.

I was in and out within 20 minutes when I did mine, and that was at the height of the Sandy Hook hysteria.

^^This to the nth degree. 15 mins in and out, as long as you don't try to go during their lunch break. And the references need to be added to the form, they just don't contact them. I only had one reference that was a PA resident. The other was a NYS resident.

Yep. The only way to do it unless you work downtown.

Are you allowed to carry in the airport substation. I would think you would be ok because it is not in the secure area. Would I be correct.
