My "camera" is currently a Samsung Galaxy S5 smart phone.
The 16MP camera is pretty nice although I don't know how to use the settings to their full potential and just use it on "auto" for now.
On my android , I have only a 5mp, hence my crapper pics, That I was using in comparison to yours. I really do need to upgrade. When I was at the Grand Canyon 2 years ago, You would see people with expensive DSLR and huge lens, taking pictures. And there I was with my phone taking the same, but lower resolution picture. The looks I got were priceless.

As for the lighting, If I am taking outdoor shots I try to take them during the Golden Hour. Generally it is an hour after sunrise, and a hour before sunset. But it does depend on your location.
Here is a golden hour calculator Just fill in the required info and it will generate a month long golden hour time for your specific location.

Mine's a bit hard to read. I dunno if that's a result of the parkerizing or what.

Did you say that's where your family is from? Is that a town, a "region", the name of a factory? All of the above?

Yup, that where my dad is from. It's the second largest city in Galicia. He was born on a farm outside of town and came here after the civil war during WWII.

Wow, that looks great, I thought I was one of the few that had one, got mine in a trade for an old double barrel 12 gauge. My furniture looks like crap from the previous owner who attempted to clean it up. It kicks like a mule, my son hates it and my shoulder complains but I like it.

I'd imagine. My M43 8mm kicks like a Clydesdale. Especially with Yugo machine gun ammo.

I dunno. I've never shot a Springfield and it's been a while since shooting a Mosin, but that ^^^ sounds about right.

Yeah, as I mentioned, I wasn't really looking for one in this condition - I'd have been happy with just about anything. I have only seen an FR8 pop up in the classifieds here a few times over the last several years and I either missed it, or couldn't afford it at the time.
I didn't really want to spend money on one this time around either, but when I saw the photos I decided to go for it since I may not get another chance for a while. (without seeking one out online and paying even more after adding shipping/FFL, etc)
I was able to sell off some stuff I had lying around which made the purchase a lot easier on the wallet and I'm really glad I did it now.

Mine seems to like some surplus linked 7.62x51 that I procured many years ago, still bucks like a mule and I need Motrin after I shoot a few rounds. My son is terrified to shoot it. He says it will dislocate his shoulder, I call him a wuss

I wonder if there's any difference in weight between an FR8 and an original M1943? If I had to guess, I'd think the FR8 is a bit lighter.

Nothing seems to have as much kick as my M95 Styer with '38-'39 Nazi ammo. I let my dad shoot it once and he said, "Fuck that, you can keep that thing!"

I am guessing we or at least me was spoiled by the AR/M60 platforms that hardly kicked at all. I guess not having a buffer has made me a wuss as well

Great looking FR8. This is another that has been on my wish list for several years for all the same reasons you stated.
