How does the recoil compare to a 1903 Springfield or a Mosin?
    ...and they have a plan...

    EM,
You definitely have a talent for taking Firearm pictures. What kind of camera are you using?

Note the adjustable rear sight. This was welded onto the original Mauser action.
    It's an elevation-adjustable rotary type with apertures for 200 m (220 yd), 300 m (330 yd) and 400 m (440 yd), as well as an open "V" notch ( as pictured) for 100 meters (110 yd)

Maker stamp with year of manufacture (1953) although I believe that's the year the rifle was built in it's original configuration as the Spanish made M43 Mauser. (Like the German K98?)
I believe these FR8 rifles were modified in the 60s.

Also note the tiny circle/number stamped into the wood on the top edge along the receiver - there are several other similar stampings in the wood as well that I need to photograph - I found them later while looking VERY closely for more of them.

    Thank you.
I'm no photographer, but I can fake it enough that mostly only real photographers can tell that I have no idea what I'm doing.
Really though, any time you can take a pic of a rifle that isn't placed on an unmade bed, or that has feet visible in the frame, you're ahead of the game. LOL

Taking pics from different angles is a big help in creating an interesting photo. Getting closeups makes a big difference too - many people tend to take one pic of the entire rifle, which is fine, but in order to do so, you must move too far away and include a lot of background, leaving you with a shot of the "whole rifle", but lacking any detail.
Lighting is really important too, but is harder to control. When I took the pics on the camo coat the sun came out and made it way too bright to get any shots that didn't have washed out areas, or glare reflecting off the rifle, so I started doing other things until a cloud passed over giving me much better conditions for taking photos.

My "camera" is currently a Samsung Galaxy S5 smart phone.
The 16MP camera is pretty nice although I don't know how to use the settings to their full potential and just use it on "auto" for now.
This rifle and the Marlin Texan 30-30 I posted recently were photographed with this phone. Prior to that for several years I used my Galaxy SII with 8MP camera and it was "OK", but doesn't come close to the new phone.
Prior to that I used a Kodak EasyShare 10MP (real camera) and it was nice, but not as handy as just using a phone.

None of my photos are edited at all. Only rarely will I even crop them to remove something (like feets! LOL), but I generally "crop" by "looking" at what I'm photographing and thinking about the composition at the time I take it. I don't have time to sit and edit, so I work with what I have.

I do try to make them interesting, so the compliment is appreciated.

Yes, I think every one I've seen has been stamped the same. (Not to say that there aren't other stamps - I just haven't seen any in the short time I've been reading up on them)
Mine's a bit hard to read. I dunno if that's a result of the parkerizing or what.

Did you say that's where your family is from? Is that a town, a "region", the name of a factory? All of the above?

"I'll take cities, municipalities, provinces, and arsenals of the same name in the autonomous region of Galicia, Spain for $400, Trebeck."
