Allright. Let me tell you what's going on now. The county is trying to "run" the program, despite it's grassroots nature, as outlined on FEMA website and they aren't really successful. Frankly, I won't expect any less from the gubmint. Right now I'm trying to de-centralize the program and convince county emergency board to delegate more to the people and local CERT chapters.

I will definitely keep you, guys, posted on the progress. Thanks ya'll.

First time I have noticed this thread...if it isn't too late, I'd be interested if the schedule dictates a weekend day

Allright, folks, had a meeting yday. The county coordinator is very excited. We tried to figure out the best schedule and given the training span of 7 weeks (one night a week) and holiday season around the corner we decided, the January will be a good time to start the training in order to maintain consistence presence of the trainees, not distracted with inevitable holiday schedule. Upper Dublin township will host, providing appropriate venue in the township building as well as at Fort Washington fire station. The county coordinator is also trying to put together another class in Chelteham, which is 15 minutes away from Upper Dublin and schedule it couple of days off of ours, so if anyone misses a lecture, he can attend the very same lecture in different day. At this point, stars are pointing to Tuesday and Thursday classes (depending on township), but I'm advocating to have one friday night class, since at least one of the members here called that day. Start time will most likely be 6:30 pm. Hopefully, by that time, most of us will manage to get to the class, and pushing the up to 3 hr session any later will result in the later dismissal accordingly, which might be too late for some, not to mention lack of attention due to late hour.

I'm a little upset myself due to the delay, however I can't disagree with reasoning, that makes perfect sense. Also, having classes during potentially shitty weather conditions might also help us to aquire and hone certain related hands on skills. I will definitely keep everyone posted

I'm in as well. Been trying to get the Montco RACES involved with this training and they have yet to get back to me. So I'm in as well.

    Thanks!!

Great news. I'm still interested, and my wife might be as well if we can swing babysitters.

The CERT basic class starts on Jan 28th, wednesday, at 6:30 pm. The training will last for 6 weeks, with the final class taking place on saturday, march 7th, 9am.

Fort Washington Fire Company will host. Please note, that Upper Dublin residents have priority, and the rest of the applicants will be confirmed on or around Jan 16, which is the cut off date.

The class size is 30 people and I anticipate enough spots available to accomodate most if not all PAFOA students. Please provide the following information to register:

First Name, Last Name, full address, email, phone#.

You can PM it to me or email it directly to the Montco CERT coordinator Tim Elbertson TElberts@montcopa.org
