    Default Range report Ruger Vaquero

Went to the range with my neighbor yesterday. My neighbor is an awesome guy. Retired guy in his 60's who just hunts, fishes, and shoots all day.
We go to the range and he asks me to try his Ruger Vaquero which was calibered in .45 colt and .454. I only shot a revolver once in life so I was nervous about such a large caliber.
Started with .45 colt ammo freehand and 40 feet to get used to it. Was very comfortable in the hand, well balanced, and i loved the trigger.
We put in some .454 ammo which was much more powerful I was told. I was nervous about the recoil. I never shot over 60 ft with a handgun and he set up a target 120 yards and I was shooting open site. I was like no way I'm hitting that. First shot 1ft 3oclock, 2nd was 8in 9 oclock then 3 of my next 4 were hits! I was amazed a handgun could do this. And I was so surprised how little recoil a .454 has. Yea it was more than my .45 but nothing crazy.

After shooting this I can say I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a large revolver. I'm going to get a superblackhawk now!

Was it a new or old model Vaquero? I don't think they ever sold one chambered in .454 Casull. Also, was the cylinder fluted or unfluted?

Not sure. He handed me it and told me to try it out. It was chambered in .45 colt or .454 we shot both. Said it on the side of the gun.

Did it hold six cartridges or only five?
