Class III and Gunsmiths
What is required if I have to send a Class III firearm (SBR, SBS, AOW or MG) to a gunsmith for work?

Re: Class III and Gunsmiths

Re: Class III and Gunsmiths
For now I'm concentrating on the AR-platform, so I should be able to handle all my own needs for that once I get a two bedroom apartment someplace closer to work and setup the second bedroom as a workshop.
But I'd like to branch into some automatics, and those are a bit harder to work on (since my first automatic clearly won't be a $15,000 to $20,000 M16).

Re: Class III and Gunsmiths
Gotcha
You can do a copy of your Form 4 as posted above by Corey.
This practice is fine and done by EVERY manufacture out there.
Ex: You have an end cap strike your Osprey 45. Contact Silencer Co and work out the logistics with them. Mail the can and copy of the approved Form4 to SC. It will be repaired and mailed directly back to you.
You can fix you own weapons on basic repairs, like simple part replacement you are fine. You can not manufacture NFA parts (suppressor baffles/parts/end caps) That must be done by an 07/02 manufacture. Even if it is a Form 1 suppressor, you can not make new baffles for it.
But lets face it, if you have a catastrophic failure on your M60 and blow the top cover and swell the receiver, odds are most people can not repair it in their garage.
You can build and rivet your own 1919 with a parts kit and registered side plate if you wish. Same as an AK47. Buy a registered receiver and convert it to an AKS-74U in your garage and install your own rivet kit. This is because you are not truly "manufacturing" anything. The parts are already a "machine gun" in the ATF's eyes.HGW, llc ~ Title 1 & NFA sales/manufacturing ~ Transfers - Title 1 $20 - NFA $50
