    Default conceal carry question

I'm new to Pa and have obtained my CCP. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to. I am allowed to carry a gun that is registered to my wife. All of my guns are full size and hard to carry easily, but she has a compact 40 that is alot smaller.

    Yes

18 Pa.C.S. § 6115: Loans on, or lending or giving firearms prohibited

    (a) Offense defined.--No person shall make any loan secured by mortgage, deposit or pledge of a firearm, nor, except as provided in subsection (b), shall any person lend or give a firearm to another or otherwise deliver a firearm contrary to the provisions of this subchapter.
    (b) Exception.--
    (1)
Subsection (a) shall not apply if any of the following apply:
    (i)
The person who receives the firearm is licensed to carry a firearm under section 6109 (relating to licenses).

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Firearms aren't registered in PA (there's actually a law forbidding it), but the State Police maintain a "record of sale database" of all handgun transfers in the state that its treated like a "registry" by some cops.

PA law forbids borrowing (or providing a loan on) a handgun, but there is an exception if you have a License to Carry Firearms (LTCF). Also, handgun transfers of ownership between spouses, parent/child and grandparent/grandchild require no paperwork at all assuming that both are PA residents and the transferee is not prohibited.

Thank you all for the info. Obviously, I must have skimmed right past the info myself....of course reading the gun law book is like reading a dictionary. Guess I should drink a pot of coffee and suck it up to really read all the laws though.

It can be pretty dry reading. Ask questions. It keeps us awake.

    ....well, some of us.

As the gentlemen above pointed out - yes.

And transfers between spouses, parent/child, and grandparent/grandchild are except of any paperwork. So a temporary transfer(loan) between those familial relations is legal regardless as to whether you have a license to carry or not.

Yes, it is normally referred as License to carry firearm or LTCF here in PA.
Fla it is CCW. So where is it called CCP?

What has been discussed here is true. But it does not mean you will not be hassled about carrying a gun that does not check out to be yours.

There is a handout here somewhere that was developed from the laws in place. It will help you along on understanding the laws. Some will carry a copy in case they do get stopped about carrying.
troll Free. It's all in your mind.
