The first three on his list had corrosive primers, these did not:
SL 43: St. Louis Ordnance Plant, St. Louis, MO
RA 52: Remington Arms, Bridgeport, CT
TW 52: Twin Cities Ordnance Plant, Minneapolis, MN

I'm not a metallurgist, but I thought brass got brittle from being worked repeatedly?

Brass, like all metals can get brittle by constant reforming, acids, corrosion, and just plain time.

Oxidation is a major cause of metals losing their flexibility. It takes longer for most metals to lose their flexibility but when you look at items like plastics today, there is what is called a "Expected lifetime" example, that plastic in your refrigerator may have a 10 year expected life time, then it starts to crack out of the blue, your car dash, steering wheel, your shoes and boots.. all have what is called an expected lifetime on which guarantees are based.

Brass and copper are usually measured in life expectancy for water up to 50 years. In bullets, it all depends on times shot, type of propellant and other factors I can imagine.

    Frenchy,
Please do not call the Inspector. I will start collecting the 1000's of patches, etc. and start spelling repairs ASAP.

Crushed walnut lizard bedding as media with a dash of nu-finish always gets my brass better than new.
