Ran a 5k with my dad this morning on the Laureldale rail trail. It was my first time on the trail, I was running with my normal workout gear (5.11 fanny pack, G27, etc).

Started at the trail head near Exide battery. No signs about anything other than a map. After a while I came to a spot where the trail was crossed by a road. On the barrier keeping cars from going down the trail, there was a sign with prohibitions of all sorts of things, weapons being one of them. I finished my run without incident and went home.

Does anyone on this board that lives near there know if it's publicly or privately owned land? If it's public land, we all know that preemption makes the ban illegal.

If public, does it matter that I no longer live up that way (and that my parents officially live in the neighboring town of Temple) to go protest it at a meeting of some sort?

Thoughts welcome. Dad wants to run with me more often, and I don't go anywhere unarmed.
