Default Oops I forgot my Wallet

Yesterday I needed to go to East Liverpool Oh. to pick up a proscription for my wife. When I got as far as Chester WV my wife called me and informed me that my wallet was at home. I now had a big problem as all my licenses/permits were in my wallet. It would have meant driving home around 14 miles to get it. I decided since I was now in WV I would just unload my EDC and store it in the back of the SUV in the compartment for the spare tire. I have a AZ, UT and PA LTCF. With the EDC stored in this manner I was good to go in both Ohio and West Virginia. My only issue was what to do when I got back to Pa. It seems strange that as a non-resident of Ohio and WV I should be worried about Pa. my home state, but the transportation laws in Pa. suck.

My question is how much trouble would I have been in if stopped and my firearms found by a LEO

This has come up before. You may get jammed up because you could not prove you had a licence to the LEO and where transporting a firearm outside of the specific exceptions that are defined by PA law.

However at your court appearance, showing a valid licence should clear you.

The LEO should not know its back there unless you tell them or let them search your car, don't do that and drive home.

I took a pic of my DL and LTCF with my smart phone and saved those in the phone, so at least if i find myself without the originals, I have something to show, if needed

if I don't forget my phone as well!

Good idea. I don't know how much it would help in that kind of circumstance but I guess it would depend if the cop wanted to be a douche or not.

Just took a pic of mine.

Kind of on this topic I have a friend who has taken pics with his phone of the paperwork for each gun he's purchased showing the serial numbers. I think he figures if he ever needed to prove a gun is his he could use this as proof.

Memorizing your DL # may help one in the event of not having it.
Knowing all your info might get you released easier.

the problem with that is, "here officer, look at my phone"....."ok, sit tight, I will be right back with your phone in a bit....."

Better to keep paper copies locked in your car in a secure location.

This is what I do. I keep them in the same envelope as my registration and insurance card.

I know my drivers license number, (hell, I should, I've had it for 50 years now!), but that's a good idea.

Explain the situation, name and DOB checked in the system, information verified, sent on your way.

I was very nervous the whole trip back through Pa. to home. I really should not have so worried as I have not been stop for any reason since 1996. I just think its funny that in the other two states I could just empty and store to abide by the law.
