Re: Had to disarm myself today
Well dang.
I worked with dementia patients for a year, prior to putting my gunsmithing talents to use.
I took punches; I took heavy things thrown at me. There are plenty of ways to deal with dementia that do not involve violence. The person is confused, and scared because of this confusion. Most times they're easily distracted from a course of action.
It seems, from reading through this thread, the OP's first impulse to situations outside his control, is toward violence. This never ends well for the person unable to control himself.
There's a lot to be said for verbal ju-jitsu.
Regards,
Josh
