Re: Gas block STUCK ON BARREL. >:(
How many rounds have gone through the barrel? If a lot, gas torching may have sent edges of the barrel port slightly upwards toward the block. It only takes a couple thousandths to lock up something close to a press fit. Also, hardened carbon accumulation might bind it very effectively...sort of like a Loctite affect. Is there a reason it cannot be sawed or Dremeled off? Sounds like it's toast anyway.

Have you tried hitting it?

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

So I cut through part of it today with the dremel and its still stuck on there. I'm about to go on a beer run, but I'll post pics after I get back. Does anyone know if there is any place in Philly that sells Kroil? I can get pb blaster at home depot but apparently kroil works better.

Get som canned air at office depot(used to clean keyboards) turn it upside down and flood the barrel with it. It is liquid nitrogen it will freeze that barrel in 2 minutes. then apply heat to the block while you cool the barrel it will break free.

I don't want to mess with heating/cooling the barrel. Already tried that (minus the canned air, even though I have a bottle which is almost empty). I don't want to screw up the accuracy of the barrel. An engineer told me that these materials are made to go -30 degrees F and still work fine, but I don't know how cold that canned air will get it.

Just an idea: cut the gas tube (it's probably bent already from the hammering). Then put the barrel in a padded vice (old chunk of leather should work as padding). Then use a strap wrench on the FSB to twist it. Whacking on that forward grip is only putting angled force on the FSB. You need something to get more straight force on the FSB. A puller with long arms, to pull the FSB towards the muzzle might be needed.
