Anyone know if carry is allowed?

Are you asking about the municipality of Carlisle, or the Carlisle Barracks Army post? If the latter, I haven't been there in almost 50 years, but I don't know of any Army installation today that allows civilian carry.

Carlisle Barracks entry requires access through a gate that may result in a vehicle search.

The Army Heritage Center (AHC) is accessed from a public road and the only security is a guard inside the main door.

    BOTH properties are federal installations.

First off its a great place to visit.

The museum is cool but the family really liked the trail. If you have kids there are some really cool tunnels / pill boxes they can walk through.

Definitely no carry in the museum (Federal building and posted right on the door). I elected not to carry on the Heritage Walk as we left the museum and went straight to the path. I did carry to the parking lot when we got there and locked my gun in the Gunvault car safe before going in.

Thanks. We did the outside walk today. I wasn't sure if it was federal or if it was a private foundation to promote the army heritage. Couldn't tell from the website and I did not run into any workers on site to ask. But I had elected to not take a chance since I figured worst case it was military property and it would be a problem. Nice place. They added a few displays since we were last here and they had the outbuildings open today.. The barracks, hospital, etc.

It is a great place to visit. Been there with the Grandchildren, they loved
the trail with all the static displays of armor, cannons , choppers. etc.
check out the website: www.USAHEC.ORG . The best part is admission and
parking are FREE. Posted on the doors of the Heritage Center, No Firearms
Allowed. You can take a group there and they have large tents set up with
picnic tables for you. For us older guys the military history stuff is great. The
Bookstore has plenty of excellent books for sale and other stuff.

AHEC (Army Heritage Education Center) is a National Park Service site. As with NPS sites, one can carry on the grounds by a recent Federal policy change. However, most NPS sites have a reception/museum building one must go through to gain access to the grounds, which, like most Federal buildings, are firearms prohibited. So, the conundrum is: You can carry on the grounds but......You have to go through the firearms free zone to get there! What to do? Use your own judgment. I've yet to figure it out.

BTW, it IS a great place to go learn about the history of the US Army. I have a friend and colleague who is responsible for most of those displays on the trail.

Say what? The parking lot is next to the trail. You do not have to go into any building to access the trail.

See photo below... parking lot on right, building on left.

And this sign maybe 20+ feet in front of the museum door

Goof to know. I did t know it was a nps property. Didn't see any signs saying that. Figured it may be military. And fortunately, this is a place where you can access the grounds without going through a building as mentioned. I did not see those yellow signs. Guess I missed them.

I'm checking with my friend who works there as to status of this issue. I'll keep everyone posted as to what is the situation.
