A lot of your questions can be answered here: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/
It looks like 35# is the minimum. From here: http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/p...egulations.pdf

Re: bow hunting question from new girl
yeah I believe 35 pounds is the minimum allowed, and make sure she is shooting fixed blade, expandables probably won't work for her.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

If she can't draw that much may I suggest a crossbow? They are legal now in PA.

At 13 she might be able to handle more than 35 lbs. Take a trip to a bow shop and have them try her out on a few. Also try Acherytalk.com. They may have some suggestions as well.

Re: bow hunting question from new girl
I always thought min weight was 45# in PA or have they lowered it since the dinosaurs stopped roaming around. All I know is that when I was shooting competitively I was told 45#'s was the min weight but that 65# would be idea for a quick drop.

I would just check with your local school district (or soon to be). If thats what your talking about ...
I know in high school we had "archery" class but it was with a recurve bow.

Re: bow hunting question from new girl
That is only partially true. Crossbows are legal anywhere in the state, during the regular firearms season, however during archery season crossbows can only lawfully be used in WMU's 2B (Immediate Pittsburgh area, basically Allegheny County) and 5C & 5D (Philadelphia/SE PA area)... A map of the Wildlife Management Units, WMUs, is available at http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/p...femgmtunit.pdf
