I never considered this factor when moving here.

It's very simple. When leaving the house, always drive NORTH.

If you get to the NY border, stop and drive south.

I live within an 45 minute drive of the New York border.

The way I approach it is as the Iron Curtain. I look at NY as East Germany(it looks that way too, lots of businesses derelict, lots of places looking sad and drab, pissed off people stuck where they are). So to me it's just like being in West Germany and living close to East Germany. It's a place I know that is there but I do not visit or if that, very rarely. The only time I go to NY is to use the Elmira airport as some employers only want to fly me out of an airport the closest to my house. If I need to do any big shopping I go to Williamsport which is a little further away but I don't have to cross the border.

At least we have the Delaware River in the east to remind us. Those "Last exit in PA" signs have greater meaning for me now!
    ...and they have a plan...

I have a file on my GPS that warns me when I'm on a road that is 3000 feet from any state border.

Well you can drive West. Ohio is somewhat carry-friendly compared to all of our other neighbors.

Don't forget about West Virginia. They are our neighbors and have reciprocity with PA.
