Default Gun Grabber doesn't understand how Georgia Gun Buybacks work

It looks an anti-gun activist in Georgia is upset that over 40 guns that were purchased in a gun “buyback” (still don’t understand that word) were auctioned off to dealers to be sold back to the general public. Not sure what she expected in Georgia.

Niki Watson, an organizer of a gun buyback event, turned over 40+ guns to the Richmond County, GA Sheriff’s Office following one of her events. She thought those guns would be destroyed.

Not so fast. Under GA law, a law enforcement agency either has to return guns in its possession to their owners (who obviously don’t want them in this case), keep them, or auction them.

So, the organizer of this event was buying guns that were not for their own use & enjoyment?

As we learned from SCOTUS after the Abramski ruling, purchase of guns on behalf of others applies even to transactions where the person who ends up with the weapon could have legally acquired a firearm.

Charge her with 44 counts of straw purchases. Equal protection under the law & all that jazz. No justice, no peace.

The idiots should be happy since they're now out of the hands of would-be, could-be criminals and into the hands of law-abiding citizens, but their brains cannot function properly.

    Great story!

I was wondering if she had an FFL there for any transfers she may have needed. Never thought about the straw purchase aspect.

I wonder if this video had anything to do with it.

Abramski only dealt with information provided on the 4473, ruling that the name of the actual buyer was a "material fact".

As I understand it, GA allows for private transfers without FFL involvement. As such, those types of 'sales/purchases' would not involve a 4473 and Abramski, as well as "straw purchaser", would be inapplicable.

Haha this is great. I wish I could have seen her rage when she found this out.

But the guns are still "on the street." Think of the children.
