    Default training

Hello all does anyone know if there is a reasonably priced women's pistol training anywhere in southeastern PA...My girlfriend just got into pistols annd got her LTCF. I'd could only teach her so much myself being state trained on a full size glock. She has a S&W 38 special snubby. We've been target shooting but I want some combat training. for her.

    Thank You
    Joe

Check here for some upcoming classes. I got with a local firearms instruction place, and suggest a "Couples Course". I did just that, and it worked out pretty good. It was a good way to intro the betterhalf without her feeling like she was all alone. Those that went seemed to really like it.

They did seperate us on the line. That was probably good anyway. But we could talk to each other and I could yell out encouragement to her. She loved the class and has already suggested that we take a longer more detailed class.

I'm glad to hear people looking to get some formal training on firearms. I wish more would.

Consider that snub-nosed revolers are more diffiuclt to shoot well than full-sized revolvers and most single-action autos.

By coincidence, Louis Awerbuck's article in SWAT this month addresses this very issue.

My wife recently told me I am to buy her a G26 (sub compact 9mm GLOCK )
She shoots the G19, G17, and G34 well. Has trained with the 19 more than once.
I asked her if she had considered a light weight snubby, it would afterall be slimmer and easier to carry.
her response was "whats the point of having a gun I cant shoot and wont train with"
Youll notice a large difference in mindset from those who would say "better to have a ______ than nothing"

Its prob a bit off topic, but since that popped up in Pete's post and we just had that conversation I thought I would mention it.

I understand there are instructors who do "ladies only" classes. Ive never really understood why besides market demand. She will be well served in any number of courses from repuatable instructors, I know there have been women (gasp!) in many classes I have attended .

ETA: this thread is 3 years old..... so... did she get any training ?

Doesn't market demand drive every training choice?

As to why "ladies' only" classes, I can guess: comfort factor; easier maybe to sign up for due to lowered machismo levels; subtle way to exclude boyfriend/husband who "knows best" how to train her and might otherwise interfere...

Check your PM. I can hook you up with some private training at SPAG. The instructor is capable of teaching both semi automatic and revolver based manipulations.
