I would buy a Colt at a minimum, possibly an LWRC or LMT. Stay away from the cheaper ones or building it yourself no resale value.

Check the classified section on this forum. The self built/non matching part ( brand x lower, brand y upper, brand z furniture) AR's don't seem to move.

Old thread, you probably have made a purchase already but the Smith and Wesson M&P Sport is a great rifle and a great value.

Things have changed much over the past few months.

AR15 rifles and components are now plentiful and cheap.

Have a complete lower squirreled away in a shoebox that is now again eligible for some stuff to be built up around it. During the hysteria craze awhile back, I sold off the upper barreled assembly and bolt carrier group for highway robbery prices.

Over the weekend during the Palmetto State Armory Labor Day sale, I picked up a PSA 1/7 stainless steel barreled mid-length AR15 upper assembly for $199 plus $17 UPS shipping. There's some sort of super slicko Frankenstein brand Kryptonite coated M16 ultra mil spec bolt carrier group on it's way. That thing was also on sale for $88 shipped. There are a couple of A2 stocks knocking around here and will use one of those to complete the middy carbine. Have never had much use for toy like collapsibles so the rifle hard stock works fine.

Was also surprised too that now PSA on their web site is offering genuine COLT military M4 type AR carbines. In my humble opinion, it is mostly pointless these days buying for Brand Name sake as the components are all mostly made by a small handful of the same companies. Much of what PSA sells, especially their barrels are produced by FN in that same state.

Save money and have fun . . . Assembly your own AR15.
