Took my son to the range, first time...
Joined the range in Southern Lancaster Co, and man: What a nice place.
Great folks, nice facility.
Can't say enough nice things about the whole experience.
Joined up several days ago so I didn't have to wait until friends with property were available.
Took my sons, for my youngest it was his first time.
They had a great time.He was one of God’s own prototypes—a high-powered mutant of some kind who was never even considered for mass production. He was too weird to live and too rare to die....

Re: Took my son to the range, first time...
The oldest is now going on 11, I started him when he was nine.
The youngest is now 8.
I made it clear to both that there is no 'hard' date, but rather the EMOTIONAL maturity which must be in place before handling a firearm.
The younger one is a bit more impulsive and less likely to think of consequence.
I think that putting them in a situation where there is no "Maybe" is a good thing. Kids are surrounded by negotiable terms, both at home and school. Exposure to a situation where nothing is negotiable is a good thing.
I tell them, "One unsafe act, you are done for the day". Both have towed the line very well so far.He was one of God’s own prototypes—a high-powered mutant of some kind who was never even considered for mass production. He was too weird to live and too rare to die....

Get them involved in NRA BB Gun, mostly your 8-year old:

and girls 8-9 years do VERY WELL.
After our next match, I'll post pics of a 9-year old that started NRA HiPower when she was 8 (AR-15 Clone, .223 , iron sights, 100 yrds).
Keep it up!!!, forms a good Father-Son-Daughter bond and teaches responsibility.
Way to go!!

Nice work...I can still remember learning to shoot for the first time....bolt action Savage .30-30 with iron sights. Heavy duty for a youngster, now that I think about it, but it's all we had. You're making great memories for the young guys as well as teaching them great skills, and above all, SAFETY. Keep up the good work. Happy belated Father's Day to all you dads out there as well.
