    Post Travel to Washington State

I'm going to be headed to Washington State next month for some training and have been pondering carrying concealed there. Anyone with experience in Washington State? I have PA, UT, AZ, VA, FL concealed carry so I should be covered with Utah I believe, but haven't done all my reading on the prohibited areas etc so just looking for some informal experience from folks that have traveled there. I have a direct flight PHL->SEA on US Airways.

Seattle is a yuppy enclave. If you're going to carry, carry concealed (after verifying that you're legal to carry in WA at all).

If you have some free time and want to check out some nice indoor ranges, two that I go to when I head back each year are:

    West Coast Armory in Bellevue

Federal Way Discount Guns and Indoor Range in Federal Way

    Have a nice trip.
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

I've been out there 2 times on business in the past year or so, staying in Federal Way each time. It would appear that you can apply for a non resident permit if you apply in person in Washington state. Also Utah permits seem to be accepted.

The more time I spend there, the more I like it. There are some weirdos, freaks and hippies in the Seattle area and I've been in a few parts of town that felt a bit odd and worth carrying in. Most of the state though is great and I've met a lot of nice people. Lots of beautiful diversity of scenery and landscapes as well.

I'll be pretty busy with training the whole week, so no recreational shooting. Just wanted to carry for self-defense. I'll be concealed (Shield 9mm) but just wanted to get a vibe for what the general atmosphere was there. Have a Pelican 1170 case coming tomorrow for air transport as the Shield doesn't have a lockable case unless you consider cardboard lockable... Will be my first time flying with a firearm so that should be interesting.

I did about 4 years ago when I was out there. Handed in app, they took prints (no photo) and got my CPL about 3 weeks later in the mail here in PA. Very easy. And the WA CPL gives me reciprocity in OH, among others.

Good to know, thanks. Sounds like no hassle to do.

Any law enforcement office is supposed to handle the CPLs, but in the Tacoma area, they all will refer you to the South Sound 911 (formerly Law Enforcement Support Agency) to get it. At least 4 years ago they did.

Awesome, thanks. Don't know when I'll go back but next time I do I'll have to get the licence.

Hmm, I'm always up for getting another concealed carry license/permit/permission/registration/whatever, but I doubt I'll have the time to get to where I need to be to do that unfortunately

Got the Pelican 1170 case today for the Shield's maiden voyage, fits nicely with plenty of room for more magazines in the future:
